PMKVY

PMKVY stands for Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, which is a flagship skill development scheme of the Government of India. The scheme was launched in 2015 and is implemented by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

The primary objective of PMKVY is to provide vocational training to the youth in India and enhance their employability. The scheme aims to provide training to school dropouts, unemployed youth, and low-income individuals, focusing on industries such as manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and IT.

Under the PMKVY scheme, training is provided through a network of training centres known as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs), which are set up nationwide. These centres have state-of-the-art facilities and are staffed by trained trainers and instructors.

The scheme offers training in various vocational skills, such as plumbing, welding, carpentry, nursing, retail, and customer care. The training programs are designed to provide theoretical and practical training, focusing on hands-on experience and industry exposure.

After completing the training program, PMKVY provides placement assistance to the trainees and organizes job fairs and placement drives to connect them with potential employers. The scheme also offers entrepreneurship development training to those who wish to start their own businesses.

Overall, PMKVY is an important initiative by the Government of India to provide skill development training to the youth in the country and enhance their employability. The scheme aims to meet the skill requirements of various industries and sectors and create a skilled workforce. Individuals with prior training and experience can also be assessed and certified through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
