DDU GKY

DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana) is a skill development programme launched by the Government of India under the Ministry of Rural Development. The main objective of DDU-GKY is to provide skill training and placement opportunities to rural youth from poor families.

DDU-GKY aims to address the dual challenge of unemployment and underemployment among rural youth by providing market-oriented training and placement opportunities in various industries. The programme focuses on training young people in sectors such as construction, hospitality, retail, healthcare, and textiles.

The program provides sustainable livelihood opportunities to rural youth by ensuring they are skilled, certified, and given placement assistance. The scheme focuses on market-driven skill training programs and aims to provide training for a minimum of 3 months and up to a maximum of 12 months. The program covers not only training but also boarding and lodging costs.

A stipend is provided to trainees during the training period. DDU-GKY has been implemented in India's states and union territories and has trained and placed thousands of rural youth in various industries.

Under DDU-GKY, training and placement are provided through various implementing agencies, including government departments, private companies, NGOs, and training providers. The programme also provides financial support to the candidates through a stipend during the training period.
